A not-inconvenient movie

Tonight we went with our friends M & B (and their friend C) to see An Inconvenient Truth. I don't know if it would be entirely accurate to say that I enjoyed it, since it was rather disturbing, but it was brilliantly done. I would strongly encourage you to go see it, both because I think it should be seen, and because high ticket sales may raise awareness that people do care about this issue. (Though based on current movie rankings, it's getting a lot of attention.)

It also made me desperately wish, once again, that the 2000 decision had come down in favor of Al Gore... (sigh)

I'm still not sure if I want to see the movie. I'm pondering it.

I think you really should see it, for many reasons - as (a) a concerned citizen, (b) a scientist, (c) a politician, (d) a science-fiction writer, and (e) an inhabitant of Planet Earth. I would say you should see it even if you only fit into one of those categories, but given how many points of crossover you have, you should definitely try to fit it into your schedule. (If for no other reason, people may ask you questions about it in one of your capacities, and you should see the movie so you'll be able to respond to them.)

Your final argument -- that people will have expected me to see it, and will ask me my opinion -- is quite the clincher. I think I'll try to make the time.

That was kind of an afterthought on my part, but, whatever works. :-) I'll be curious to hear what you think!
