The rainstorm sounds a lot like the cloudbursts we used to get in Chicago sometimes. Popped up out of a clear blue sky, often; five minues of rain so hard that you couldn't breathe if your face was straight ahead -- you had to turn it downward and make a little clear space for your nose and mouth by the area protected by the back of your head. Then it would vanish.
