Not weird at all. Purim is exactly a month before Erev Pesach. We're having a leap year this year, as are the Eastern Christians, while the Westerners are not having their leap year till next year. So the Western Easter is exactly a month early, which puts it right at Purim. Next year, the Westerners will have a leap year, we won't (having already had ours), and we'll be back in synch.

And of course the Pesach food comes out at Easter. That's why Balticon has matzah in the con suite; Balticon is an Easter con, even if it happens to be on Memorial Day.
