Grouchy Grumbling

The Best of Boston winners have been announced. (For those who aren't local - it's an annual list published by Boston magazine.) We didn't win, again. This is very irritating. It's not that we're full of ourselves, but we know we're good at what we do, and we know what we have. And I know several dozen of our customers went to the site and nominated us for B.o.B. this past year.

The place that won has maybe 25% of what we carry. But they do frequently run ads in the magazine... which we can't afford to do. It's increasingly beginning to seem that the list is based on what the magazine can get out of it, which isn't really fair.

I know I shouldn't let it get to me but it's really frustrating... especially if customers come in and tell us they can't understand why we didn't get it, as they did last year. Oh well. There's only so much we can do... and if our customers think we're the best, I guess that's what really counts, right? But it would have been neat.

Mayhap you should somehow get Boston magazine to send someone down to do a newspiece on the shoppe...?

Unfortunately I don't think we're big enough. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

*sigh* That is crummy.

Personally, I hate Boston magazine -- I once let them sell me a subscription and I hated it enough that I cancelled it. But I know that doesn't help when the Best of Boston stuff really does carry some consumer weight, whether it deserves to or not.

I really must come see the shop sometime!

Yeah, at the very least it gets people's attention... but definitely do come by sometime! You can find hours and such on our web site.

Condolences

I don't have anything else to say.

Thanks for the support. But at least nobody died... it's just irritating.

Next Year!

Hmm!!! Looks like it's time for a grass roots national campaign. I did it for LouLou in New York. I always loved Boston. :-)

Thanks! (Who's LouLou?)
