Interesting book

Just finished reading a really interesting book... I don't usually go for nonfiction, but this one caught my attention. It's called Dark Tide: The Great Boston Molasses Flood of 1919, by Stephen Puleo. The molasses flood is something that's interested me for a while; it sounds silly, but it was a major disaster at the time - a 2+ million gallon tank collapsed, and the resulting tidal wave killed several people and did a tremendous amount of property damage. The book not only goes into detail about the flood itself, it also gives full background for the circumstances leading up to it, and details of the resulting court case. I imagine it would be particularly interesting to other Boston people (I recognized a lot of names), but anyone with an interest in odd early 20th-century history might enjoy it too. Fascinating story.

That does sound interesting. Ever since reading about it I've wanted to know more about the flood.

You know you've been in Boston for a while when... :-)
