Convalescing

Feeling a little better today... I wasn't in very good shape last night, as those of you who saw [livejournal.com profile] sdavido's entry will know. For those who didn't see it, I stayed home from work yesterday (runny nose, sneezing, cough, slight fever), but was feeling better in the evening so I didn't take my next dose of Tylenol when it came due. Bad mistake. When we sat down to eat dinner (he cooked up a batch of chicken stew - unfortunately I didn't have much of an appetite), I started shivering, and asked him to bring me a blanket. This is unusual for me as I'm usually on the warm side. In this case it wasn't enough and I had to ask him for another. But even with both blankets, I was shaking so violently all my muscles hurt. I think my teeth were actually chattering. I just couldn't stop shivering. (I never knew before why "the chills" were such a big deal!) [livejournal.com profile] sdavido ran to bring me a shot of Tylenol, and put a call in to the doctor. By the time he called back, the chills had stopped, thank G-d, but now I was roasting (even after kicking off the blankets). The doctor prescribed an antibiotic for me and [livejournal.com profile] sdavido raced out to the pharmacy to pick it up for me before they closed. I'm so glad he's feeling better - it would be awful if we were both this sick at the same time.

So since last night I've been taking medicine conscientiously at regular intervals - I do not want to get that bad again. And I'm feeling much better. Mostly stuffy and spacey. I did stay home from work since I didn't know how I was going to feel; I've spent most of the day sleeping. But I don't really feel that bad right now... it's just hard to know how much is actual improvement and how much is the medicine, but I don't dare stop taking it to find out. Hopefully we caught it early enough that it'll be out of my system soon.

Stay healthy, everyone!

*hug* That sounds dreadful - I'm glad you seem to be seeing some improvement and I hope it goes away soon!

Thanks, I'm working on it!

Not only should you feel better, but you might want to be reminded of the Super Bowl, which is this weekend. The Patriots are in it; I imagine that should they win, things might get noisy in Allston-Brighton. So if you're still feeling ill this Sunday and need rest, you might want to see if you can sleep that night in the Menkes house up on the hill...

(This Public Service Announcement is brought to you by, um, me, as I know how you don't tend to follow sports.)

Thanks for the news bulletin! I actually didn't know that, and the neighbors got pretty loud when the Red Sox were winning... but hopefully by then I'll be feeling better.

*Virtual hug*
Get better soon. Stay warm and drink tea. I wish I could help more.

That does help. :-) I'm drinking juice right now, but I might switch to tea next.
