Time to make the doughnuts

As many of you probably know, Chanukah starts tomorrow night. (Or is it tonight, at this point?) [livejournal.com profile] sdavido and I invited my parents and a friend over for dinner tomorrow night; I try to make latkes at least once during Chanukah. So tonight has been spent cleaning/straightening/generally making the place more presentable... we've gotten kind of behind on that. I also made doughnuts for dessert. This is a first attempt for me, so I'm hoping they came out OK; the ones without holes seem a little soft in the center, but I imagine the filling should help with that. We'll find out soon. In the meantime, it's gotten late all of a sudden, so I should really go to bed... I'll answer mail et al tomorrow night. Have a happy Tuesday, and if it's still snowing when you go outside, be careful!

Mm, latkes and doughnuts...two things I have a big weakness for. *laugh* Don't worry too much about the centers of your uncut doughnuts being soft; they often are. With enough practice you can usually get them to stop being that way, but it's no big deal. As you say, once the filling is in, who will notice? *grin*

Thanks very much for your support! I don't think they were ideal, but the novelty was a hit in itself. I'm sure they would improve with practice (or if I weren't trying to ice & fill them while in a hurry).
