The good, the bad, and the fuzzy
Good
sdavido surprised me tonight with something he sneakily ordered before I even knew it was out. The first season of MacGyver. Wheeee! I was a bit annoyed that they list his first name on the case, since that was always a Deep Dark Secret (I only remember it being mentioned in two episodes), but nevertheless I'm looking forward to watching it again. Hmmm, maybe if we can tame the Clutter Demon, I'll have a MacGyver party sometime...
Bad
sdavido's cold has gotten much worse. He's been running a fever since yesterday (102.7 as of a few hours ago), and has a really deep nasty cough which gets worse if he tries to talk. He didn't go to work today, and he's not going tomorrow. But I called our doctor tonight, and he prescribed some antibiotics over the phone, so hopefully we'll see some improvement soon. (His reaction to my asking if we should come to the office: "Don't take him out in this cold weather! He'll get worse!" I like having a practical doctor.) Both my parents have colds of varying severity, too. Thank G-d I have a good immune system, so as long as I don't let myself get depleted, I should be OK.
Fuzzy
So, can cats catch a human virus? I always thought those couldn't cross the species boundary, but
sdavido has been trying not to breathe on her, just in case. Anyone know for sure?

Eek! I really hope he gets well soon! (That cough sounds exactly like the one I had; I'll send some extra-special get well vibes for it...maybe they'll work! *grin*)
Good luck not getting sick yourself. *hug*

Seriously, you might want to try A Taste Of Thai Roasted Garlic Soup. That's become my default "chicken soup". And it's the only store-bought "roasted garlic" product I've had that doesn't have that slight metallic back taste. It's really good.

Very few things are contagious from people to cats, and upper respiratory infections are not one of them as far as I've *ever* seen or heard - your kitty should be safe. :)

*tearing up a mite* Thank you. I've been really worried. I figure I must be improving to some degree, because she's now taking the occasional nibble of my hand or arm (she had just been coming over to lie on my arm and snooze with me, trying to keep me company). Then again, she just might be upset that the fever is going down, and I'm not as good of a heating pad anymore *evil grin*.

I hope he feels better shortly! Want me to bring by some hot and sour soup whilst I'm out shopping today?

I used 23mg Chelated Zinc Lozenges, Cal-Mag_zinc with Vitamin D and both liquid and powder suspension of Echinacea & Goldenseal (Grand ma's formula)with edible glycerin and brown sugar.
For the cat, I got this from a website: http://www.thepetprofessor.com/cat-info/cat-colds.html
They say...
"Cats can get upper respiratory infections or what we call the common cold or flu. However you can not pass a human cold on to your cat and vice versa."
My Vet agrees.
I hope this helps.
