Sorry I haven't been responding to mail/posts, it's been a busy couple of days...

We've been generally preoccupied with cleaning for Pesach, and all the auxiliary cleaning that seems to spiral out from that once you get started. (For anyone who's interested, I just tried an experiment - Easy-Off works great on getting smoke stains off candle-holders.) It's a good excuse to get through the "I've been meaning to..." list but it does take time.

In the midst of this, last night was the wedding of one of my cousins. (My youngest cousin on my mother's side, and the last to get married.) They're not observant so holding the wedding this close to Pesach probably didn't affect their lives too much. But it throws off the schedule a bit for those of us who are trying to get everything done.

However, it was wonderful to see my cousin so happy. I'm really glad she found such a nice guy to share her life with - she hasn't had the best luck with that until recently. I congratulated her on finding a guy who's "almost as sweet as [livejournal.com profile] sdavido." She made a face at me, of course. :-) And it was nice to see the rest of the family, too, even if the music made it a bit hard to talk... I wound up escaping into the hall with another cousin to catch up for a while.

We got home around 1 a.m., which, thanks to the magic of Daylight Savings Time, was suddenly 2 a.m.! Ugh. By the time we got to bed it was rather later than that. And we couldn't sleep too late this morning because we had to open the store - [livejournal.com profile] sdavido was helping me there today so my mother could finish cooking. We were kept busy but it was relatively calm for a Sunday, I think a good part of our clientele was home cooking for Pesach.

After we closed the store we decided to go out for dinner, as our industrious efforts to use up food haven't left us with much at home. The restaurant was crowded, which was not unexpected. But when we finally did get a table, I realized it was so hot in there that I didn't have much of an appetite. Fortunately [livejournal.com profile] sdavido knows I don't deal well with heat, so he agreed to switch to takeout. On to the line at the takeout counter, where I was cornered by a customer, of course... When we finally did get home, I discovered that what I'd ordered wasn't particularly good. [livejournal.com profile] sdavido ate all of his but subsequently felt nauseous for the rest of the evening. Perhaps we should've scrounged from what we had around... oh well.

Now we're trying to get the last bit of cleaning done, but I needed to get off my feet for a few minutes, so I decided to post an update. Not sure whether I'll get to answer mail and read posts tonight, and after tomorrow I'll be offline for a couple days, but at least you know what we've been up to. Thrilling, isn't it? :-)
