News & nuts
Nov. 24th, 2004 02:37 amAs the circle expands... let's have a warm LJ welcome for
civic_oracle! Yaaaaaay! Channeling Kermit the frog, I think...
In other news, I decided to try something new for Thanksgiving. We usually go to my aunt & uncle, and my aunt lives by the "if you can move, you haven't eaten enough" philosophy. (For those of you who've eaten at my parents' house, my mother thinks my aunt makes a lot of food...) So bringing food is kind of wasted effort. But we like to contribute something if we can.
I noticed that the recipe column in the TAB (written by the guy from Cook's Illustrated) recently had several recipes for spiced nuts. That seemed like a neat idea - something to munch on that's a little different and not too heavy. I ran the idea by
sdavido and he liked it as well.
So I recently picked up a cute bowl to put them in as a thank-you, and tonight I made up a batch of spiced pecans. They came out really well. I think everyone will like them... now I just have to resist the temptation to munch on them until then!
