Near cat-astrophe
Mar. 21st, 2005 10:12 pmEarly this morning, I awoke to the realization that Scheherazade was sitting next to me on the bed. Not unusual... but I heard rustling sounds. When I looked over, I saw that she was sitting on a plastic (grocery-type) bag. Odd. How had that gotten there? I tried to gently tug it from under her with no success.
sdavido, who had also woken up by this point, reached over so he could tug on the bag while I lifted her off it. When I picked her up, however, I discovered that the bag was actually attached to her. She had somehow gotten herself entangled so that her body was threaded through the handles - as if you'd looped the bag over your arm, except instead of an arm, this was a whole cat. We managed to extricate her, and fortunately she seems unharmed. (And very grateful - she's been purring a lot.) I'm just glad she's smart enough to come to me when she got stuck instead of flailing at the bag and making it worse. And
sdavido has been reminded that my nagging him about leaving bags around isn't only for reasons of neatness. So, no harm done, thankfully... but it was a weird way to wake up.
