A pleasant night in town
Nov. 19th, 2004 01:58 amTonight was First Light in Brookline, a townwide festival meant to kick off the winter shopping season. Various shops host singers and other performers, and provide snacks and/or freebies. The past couple years we've been giving away a sheet of personalized address labels, made on the spot. Everyone loved them, but it got kind of stressful b/c even though they're fairly quick, when you have 20 or 30 people waiting for their labels, it gets pretty crowded. So we decided that this year we'd give away more generic "Season's Greetings"-type labels instead. Everyone who came in would still get a sheet, but there'd be no waiting. It seemed to work fairly well.
The past couple years, we also had the pleasure of hosting
joecoustic as singer-in-residence, when she was living here. It was much duller without her. And a couple of the attendees asked where she was, too... I was sorry I couldn't magically pull her out of a secret door.
On another note, this will be our 3rd week home for Shabbos. (Which is still a pleasant novelty, as prior to that I literally can't remember when we were last home.) We - at least, I - haven't been posting menus b/c I really don't know whether people are interested, but if you are, say so and I'll put them up. We are intending to go back to inviting people over soon, there's just some Life Weirdness that needs to be resolved before we can make real plans...
