So, who else has been reading DC's Final Crisis? [spoiler warning] And did it make any sense at all to you? I could go on all night pointing out spots where there were plot holes you could fly a shuttle through, and jump-cuts that could give you whiplash... beyond which, there was no crossover whatsoever with most DC titles. (I regularly follow Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, JLA, JSA, with an occasional side of Green Arrow/Black Canary. They've killed Catwoman again, sigh.) When they did the first (and only, as far as I'm concerned) Crisis, it tied into every title. You couldn't read any DC comic without knowing a piece of what was going on. This time? While WW was possessed by Darkseid in FC, in her own title (the same week) she was perfectly normal and fighting a random villain. This made it really hard for me to take any of the FC "aaaah! we're all going to die!" seriously. I mean, if everything's normal in all the other titles, the universe can't really be coming to an end, right? Though even after reading all 7 issues I'm still not sure what happened. But I'm also not sure if I care.
I'm sure I could go online and find any number of sites with detailed annotations explaining what happened. But I shouldn't have to. If I buy a miniseries, I expect that miniseries to contain a coherent story. If the story is not self-explanatory, that is a sign that something is deeply wrong with the miniseries.
In the meantime this month all 4 of "my" titles are Faces of Evil crossovers. Though there's no explanation of what FoE is, or how/if they're supposed to tie together. So far I'm not seeing any connections.
I'm getting so tired of the constant crossovers, and their destroying the universe yet again, and the total lack of continuity, that I'm seriously tempted to drop them all and just cut back to PS238. That is still brilliant.
Grumble grumble...
