Went to see "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" tonight, with [livejournal.com profile] sdavido, [livejournal.com profile] joecoustic, [livejournal.com profile] tigerbright and [livejournal.com profile] teddywolf, and their friend [livejournal.com profile] hfcougar. It was very well done - visually convincing, and it didn't feel nearly as long as it really was. I don't know how close it is to the book, as we've decided to see the movies and then read the books for this series, so as not to spoil the surprise - now we can go buy #3! - but my impression from those with us who had read it was that they did a good job transferring the story to the screen. Also loved the choral piece near the beginning - I'm curious as to whether it was written specifically for the movie. There were a couple small plot holes but I imagine those are explained more thoroughly in the book.
