Goblet of... smoke

We went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire tonight, and I didn't like it nearly as much as I'd hoped. (Background: Since we hadn't yet read any Harry Potter when the first movie came out, we decided to adopt a routine of "see the movie, read the book" for this series. It's worked very well so far, as this way we can enjoy the movie without knowing what's going to happen next, and then we read the book for the added background and character development. So we didn't know what was going to happen beforehand.) I felt that it was drifting too far over from fantasy into horror. I don't like horror. And though there were only a few really creepy scenes, they strongly affected my enjoyment of the movie;
sdavido had to spend some time coaxing me out of a sour mood afterwards. Other people's opinions may vary, of course, but I really wonder how this is going to affect all the little kids whose parents assume it's fine for them to see. (Yes, I know it's PG-13, but not everyone will pay attention.)
