We're back! I don't think it makes sense to try and record every single thing we did for the past few days - your eyes would glaze over, and I'm too tired anyway - but I'll try to hit a few highlights.

- Saw the presentation of the Retro-Hugos (for 1953, which were never awarded) and Hugo awards, each of which contained some fun moments. A particularly cute one was Terry Pratchett trying to talk Fan GOH Peter Weston into giving him an "extra" Hugo rocket. This year's Hugo bases were made by [livejournal.com profile] roozle's husband ([livejournal.com profile] sunspiral?), and they were totally amazing - the rocket shooting off the base on a column of copper-and-brass flame. Hopefully they'll post a picture of it on the Noreascon site.

- We had 15 people at the Friday night dinner, which is always a treat - it's nice to see everyone, and it really makes it feel like Shabbos. (I'd list everyone's LJ handles, but I'd probably miss someone.) Unfortunately [livejournal.com profile] sdavido couldn't make it b/c he had to be at a Heinlein Society event. But since it was my birthday he insisted on making the dessert. He also ran a "Happy Birthday" message in the con newsletter - sneaky, but sweet. :-)

- Spent some time in the dealers' room (books! jewelry! more books!) and in the art show, where we saw several things we would have loved to buy, if we had more money and a larger home... maybe someday.

- Went to lots of parties, not entirely by choice - I was the party liaison, so it was my responsibility to make sure nobody was setting fire to the curtains. Fortunately everything seemed to go smoothly.

- Saw lots of people I would have loved to spend more time with - the weekend went by so fast! Thankfully I was able to sit down with [livejournal.com profile] running_girl4 one afternoon so we could catch up. We also bravely ventured into the nearby mall for doughnuts. (This was the only time I left the convention all weekend.)

- Watched the Masquerade, which had an impressive number of amazing costumes. Many of which were inspired by Terry Pratchett's work. I assume he was pleased. :-)

- An unexpected treat: We won tickets to the Lord of the Rings exhibit at the Museum of Science in a raffle! This is really cool b/c we've been wanting to go, but had been hesitant b/c it would be a bit of an indulgence right now... but then we won tickets! Wheee! And since we actually live in Boston, we don't have to worry about only having a day to use them...

- There was a reasonably good article in the Boston Globe about the convention, too.

- On the home front, Scheherazade is so happy we're home that she's been purring all night - she even purred while we gave her the nightly pill. :-)

Still have to finish unpacking, answer mail, catch up on posts, etc.... but wanted to give you a quick review. Hope you had a good weekend!
