I'm caught up on LJ! Finally! Yay! Took longer than I thought (and I allowed a fair amount of time), so I don't think I'm going to get to all the other things I wanted to do tonight... but that's something, at least.

To update, we had a very nice holiday, except for the weather. Hot and extremely sticky the first two days (and we were out walking in it a lot), then pouring rain the third. At least it broke the humidity! The weather now is rather cool, though I believe it's supposed to warm up again soon. Ah, New England...

This morning we got up Way Too Early so we could go on my family's annual cemetery trip. (We were at the cemetery an hour and a half before I would usually have woken up... regretfully skipped [livejournal.com profile] roozle's party last night so we could get up that early, but at least we made it on time.) This isn't nearly as depressing as it sounds - my mother and her siblings have been doing this for almost 50 years now (their mother died young), so it's sort of an annual reunion. It's always nice to see them, despite the surroundings.

My error in judgment came in taking a needed shower (see previous mention of sticky weather) when I got up, rather than last night. So I was standing out in 40something degree weather with wet hair. Brrr. I hope I don't get a cold. My throat does feel a little sore, but I'm hoping if I'm careful it won't get worse - [livejournal.com profile] sdavido was nice enough to bring me tea earlier.

One unusual touch was that we brought along a bag of rocks we'd picked up on the beach when we went to visit [livejournal.com profile] foolcat and [livejournal.com profile] drturtle. So the stones we left as a remembrance were nice and pretty. :-)

Not much else to report... lots to do, not enough time to do it in. I'll have to try and manage my time carefully these next couple weeks as they're shortened by the holidays. Hopefully everything will get done, somehow...

It sounded like a beautiful rememberance. It reminded me that I need to visit my Grandparents, This year.

Are they still living?

No. My Mom's generation is the only one left. We have long livers in the family but it's been a long time.

It's hard for me to visit the departed as they are in cemetaries all over the place, most of them in other states and not findable by me right now. I'm glad you had a good visit.

BTW, I consider Taam China's hot'n'sour soup to be sovereign remedy. If yer still not at 100% (and you like it) get yerself a bowl.

My mother's from this area so her relatives are mostly here. My father's family is up in Canada, though.

And I think I'll stay with the tea, but thanks for the suggestion...
