Got a new desk chair. OK, not new, exactly - the store next door to ours was throwing it out b/c they got something newer. But it was sitting in the back hallway, and hadn't made it out to the dumpster yet... so it wasn't quite trash, right?

It's definitely newer than my old chair. My previous desk chair was originally one of my parents' kitchen chairs, but when they replaced them I took one. ("How can you throw out a perfectly good chair?") (Me, a pack rat?...) So I've had it for maybe 6 years, and it wasn't new when I got it. I guess it's reasonable that it should be getting a bit worn.

So I'm trying out the new(er) chair. The nice thing is it seems to be much better for my back, which has been bothering me lately. Maybe the chair was part of the problem. I'll try this one for a few days and see what I think of it.

In the meantime... how do you decide when something is "old" or "new," anyway?

Very handy to have the concept "new-to-me". Makes many things exciting which otherwise wouldn't be. And yay for things that are good for your back!

Yes, it's nice to stand up after a couple hours at the computer, and be able to stand straight...

Something is old once I've bought a replacement. The replacement is then new. *grin*

If it's in a bassinet, it's new. If it's in a retirement home, it's old. ;) -H...

OK, so if the chair had been in a bassinet... :-)

There's the joke about the difference between England and the US: In England they think 100 miles is far, in the US, they think 100 years is old.

It's all relative.

I have heard that one, but I really like it. I think it's very true.

There are no old things...just things you don't want. If it's 100 years old it's an antique. "Older is historic. :-)

So you just have to save things long enough for them to go from "slightly old" to "really old"...
