I have to agree with you on the "+" side; the energy savings is a great perk. Also, not seeing everyone water their lawn every night just to keep it green - very environmental beneficial.

Seattle has been bright and sunny and beautiful lately. It doesn't do that often, but the last few weeks have been just radiant.

My impression is that Seattle is generally sunny & nice in the summer. It's the other 8-9 months of the year that are grey and rainy.
