Catching up on posts et al b/c I was out late last night working on a project. Every year, my mother and I go to the National Stationery Show in NY - the big industry trade show. A few years ago we took a couple of T-shirts, painted on the logos of all the companies we carried, and wore them to the Show. Everyone loved them. People stopped us in the aisles to read the logos, and every booth we went into checked to see if they were on the shirts. It's been several years but some printers still ask where the shirts are when we enter their booth. Of course, some of the companies on there are no longer around, and we've added a lot more since then...

For some reason we decided that this year we wanted to make logo shirts again. So we bought shirts, set aside a couple nights, and counted up all the logos. There are 80 of them now. Eeek! So, 40 on the front, 40 on the back... we're each making two shirts. Last night we did one side (of each of 2 shirts). Took quite a while, and there was a certain amount of fussing involved (some of the logos are really curly), but they look pretty cool. Tomorrow night we'll do the other half, and then we get to wear them to the Show. Should be fun!

It's actually going to be a pretty intense month...

May 16-19 - in NY at the Show
May 20 - home
May 21-23 - at N4 meeting with [livejournal.com profile] sdavido
May 24 - home
May 25-30 - in Cincinnati visiting in-laws with [livejournal.com profile] sdavido
May 31 - home (whew!)

I'll have limited computer access for most of that time, so forgive me if I fall behind on news and such.

In the meantime, though, I'm thinking of having a "girls' night." [livejournal.com profile] joecoustic generously gave us a VCR/DVD to replace ours that had died. So now we can finally watch the skating tapes I've been promising to show her! (For a period in the late '80s - '90s, I was taping a lot of ice-skating competitions and exhibitions.)

We won't get through all of them, but I've invited [livejournal.com profile] joecoustic over Tuesday night to watch whatever we can fit in. I may try to do some cataloging at the same time, as I have only a vague idea of what's on some of the tapes. One definite will be the Torvill & Dean special in which they reprised their "Bolero" routine - absolutely worth seeing if you never have. (Won them a gold medal in the '84 Olympics - I believe it's the only routine ever to receive all 6's.) Still amazing to watch.

Anyone who'd like to come, let me know, and I'll send you the details! [livejournal.com profile] sdavido might be home, but if so he says he'll be inconspicuous. (Skating isn't really his thing.) :-) Friendly cat will almost definitely be in the room with the people - anyone allergic, be warned.
