Living out of a suitcase
May. 23rd, 2004 09:03 pmOK, so I didn't catch up Thursday night... I had planned to, but it was really busy in the store (that's what happens when you go away), and by the time I got home around 9 p.m., ate dinner, and sat down at the computer, I was having trouble keeping my eyes open... so I decided I had better go to bed. Oh well.
Friday, after dealing with some household stuff, I met
lucretia_borgia for lunch, which was a treat as it's been a very long time since we've had a chance to sit and catch up. Then I went in to the store for a while to try and clear through some of the backlog, and went back home to pack for the Noreascon meeting at which we were spending the weekend.
What with one thing and another, we got out later than we'd planned. We arrived at the dorm where everyone was staying to find that some misguided soul had done us a favor and put us on a floor with a great view - the 18th - instead of on a lower floor as we'd requested. Which left us faced with the prospect of climbing 18 floors to our room on Shabbos. Gah! We explained our situation, and fortunately the desk staff was very sympathetic. It took a bit of scurrying around but eventually they found us a vacant room on the 2nd floor. Whew! We settled in as quickly as we could (running a bit late by this point) and went around the corner to the building where the meetings were being held.
I won't go into detail about what was discussed as it probably isn't of interest to anyone outside the committee. Basically,
sdavido spent the whole weekend sequestered with the programming staff working on placing panels. I divided my time between various meetings which looked interesting, and helping in the programming room. I hadn't intended to spend much time in there, but since they needed the help it seemed like the right thing to do. I also got to see
roozle briefly, but unfortunately we didn't have much time to socialize.
This morning I left the meeting early so I could get some work done in the store before we opened. The afternoon had only a moderate level of chaos. Tonight I'm going to try to catch up on mail and posts (really!), and do some household stuff (laundry etc.). Tomorrow night I have to pack again (that is, adjust what's in the suitcase), and Tuesday morning we leave to visit
sdavido's parents...
I don't regret any of what I'm doing, but I'm really looking forward to being able to unpack at the end of the month!
