Various things that have been floating around in my mind...
This weekend was an interesting mix. Shabbos we stayed in and fought our shared cold. Saturday night we went to see the Wallace & Gromit movie. Sunday morning we went on the annual family trip to the cemetery*. Sunday afternoon I was at the store and
sdavido did schoolwork. Sunday night we had dinner with some friends we haven't seen in a while. Nice weekend on the whole, but not what you'd call normal. (I'm not counting today as part of the weekend b/c the store was open. With all the days we're closing for the holidays this month, we couldn't close today, too.)
* The family trip to the cemetery consists of my mom, her two brothers, me and
sdavido. I've always been the lone representative of my generation, and am very touched and grateful that since we've been married SD- chooses to come as well. We visit my grandparents, various great-aunts and -uncles, and my aunt (mother's sister). It's kind of sad that nobody else from the family comes, but I'm glad that at least I've been able to go along.
This morning I went to get an inspection sticker, but discovered that I can't b/c my "check engine" light is on. As I may have mentioned in the past, this has been a problem for months. Neither the dealership nor our mechanic has been able to pin it down. But I hadn't realized it would keep me from getting a sticker. Fortunately the sticker station owner thinks they might be able to figure it out; I'm supposed to bring it back tomorrow. Hope they can find it, and it's minor and easy to fix!
At SD-'s suggestion, I was able to find a place online that still has the shoes I like. Yay! I've ordered some to try, to make sure they fit right (I've never ordered shoes online before). If they're OK I might order some more to keep in the closet for later...
This has not been a good year for other people's marriages. Among our friends at the moment I can think of three couples who have gotten divorced (plus my parents), four more who seem to be heading that way, and another who almost did but fortunately seem to have resolved their problems. I feel badly for all of them, but am very thankful that SD- and I are still so happy together.
While I have your attention (?), if I have angered or offended you in the past year, I apologize, and hope you will forgive me. If you tell me what I did, I'll try not to do it again.
I think that's all for the moment. You may now return to your normally scheduled lives...
