Following up on an earlier post about insidious problems with Sony CDs, they are now apologizing to everyone and promising never to do it again. I guess they got enough complaints to make them realize they had more to lose than to gain. Whew!

You realize we do not have to put up with this nonesense. Sony did not get "complaints." They got slapped with major lawsuits and effectively boycotted until they changed their policy.

When asked after leaving the Constitutional convention "what did you accomplish?" Ben Franklin replied: "A Republic, if you can keep it."

When a comapny hacks into your computer, we do not petition them like serfs of old begging the local Baron for justice. Unless, of course, we are content to be serfs.

Please don't trust they won't do something even more underhanded in the future, just because they got slapped this once. Micro$oft should be the premier object lesson on that one, but bad corporate conduct isn't just limited to Redmond, Washington.
Note that despite the evidence that Sony's malware is on federally owned computers, the Department of Justice is curiously silent. Remember the government is all about keeping corporate America happy- all serfs be damned.
