I was in the supermarket earlier, and they are, of course, playing Christmas music. At one point "Jingle Bells" came on. I was only half-listening, and my mind isn't really on that holiday, so what I heard probably isn't what the author intended... but I thought some might find it amusing:

"What fun it is to laugh and sing a slaying song tonight!"

Gee, I hadn't realized Buffy was such a big part of Christmas...

Actual lyrics are "sing a sleighing song tonight." You didn't mishear.

Apparently this is a Thanksgiving song.

My son made a parody of the parody (Jingle Bells, Batman Smells...) that goes something like...

Jingle bells
Skunks smell
A platypus laid an egg
etc

No, it's a christmas song. Where else does the christmas bird come from?
It's just that christmas has been celebrated longer than thanksgving, and no-one's written a song yet about slaying the thanksgiving bird.
