Stopping & Shopping

We have our car back. Yay! It did turn out to be the alternator; the mechanic also replaced the battery, as he said it looked like it was about to go. (Reasonable, it was probably 8 years old.) But they were able to get it fixed and back to us today, which I'm tremendously grateful for. If anyone local needs a good mechanic, let me know...
On the other hand, my ear is still bothering me. Fooey. I had really hoped it would have stopped by now. It's OK as long as I take Advil, but starts twinging again when it wears off. I guess I have to call the doctor. (sigh)
Tonight we did what started out as a simple errand, but it expanded to fill available time, as these things do. I needed a new alarm clock, as the one I've had for a Very Long Time is no longer working. (I pressed the minute button too hard and it stuck.) But my main criterion, silly as it may seem, was that I didn't want it to have red numbers (blue by preference). The way I see it, the clock is the last thing I see every night, and the first thing I see in the morning. And I don't like red. So if the clock numbers are red, I'll be annoyed by it last thing at night, and first thing in the morning. Not my idea of a good time. So we went looking... the first place we went to didn't have anything I liked. (Perhaps something could've been considered, but the background music was so loud I couldn't concentrate. See previous comment about ear pain.) The second place didn't have anything with blue numbers, but it did have an oval clock with green numbers. I liked the shape so I decided I could compromise. Of course when I got it home later, and plugged it in, it turned out that the snooze button is permanently illuminated... in red. Argh! Aside from the color, I'm very sensitive to light, so that could easily keep me awake. So now it has 3 layers of duct tape over the snooze button... fortunately
sdavido puts up with my quirks.
While we were out, we wandered into a DVD section. Spent some time aimlessly roaming the aisles, which we don't often get to do. I'm not sure what's more amazing, what is on DVD, or what's not! But my weird flashback of the night was triggered by seeing a complete set of JEM... anyone else seeing her transform now? :-)
That's about it for the moment. Hope all's well on your side of the screen!
